The Fusion V6 Sport is the first Ford model to offer an all-new Pothole Detection feature designed to respond to less than perfect pavement.
Did Someone Say Pothole Detection?
Yes, someone did, and their name was Ford. Beyond the fact that the Fusion V6 Sport is a mid-sized marvel all its own, this sporty ride is the first of the Ford fleet to feature the innovative pothole mitigation technology that has everyone talking.
So How Does It Work?
The 2017 Ford Fusion has been equipped with an advanced computer-controlled shock absorber system as a standard feature for it’s Sport edition. Ford has engineered a way to actually detect potholes of all sizes, man-eating or otherwise, and catch the vehicle’s wheel before ever getting the chance to drop completely into it. This intelligent new suspension system has 12 high-resolution sensors that collect the sensory information needed to detect the edge of a pothole, while a computer analyzes this data and adjusts the dampers every two milliseconds for greatest vehicle response.
The rear suspension is capable of responding even faster thanks to the signal from the front wheel. By changing up the suspension to the stiffest possible settings, the wheels are able to keep from dropping all the way into the pothole.
Not only is it the first Ford to feature this kind of technology, but Fusion is also the first in the mid-sized sedan class to come up with a continuously controlled damping solution for those pesky potholes as well. With a powerful 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine that runs you to 60mph in just 5.3 seconds, and the ability to out perform a Mustang too, it’s no wonder the Ford Fusion Sport is the talk of the town. Now there’s, even more, to be impressed by. With their highly intelligent suspension system to keep you on the go no matter how patchy the terrain, Ford Fusion V6 Sport was truly designed to make you go further.
