In 2017 the Jeep Wrangler has celebrated its 70th birthday. A very long time when you think of vehicles. Compared to other vehicles in its generation they have had to adapt to the times, that’s not to say the Wrangler hasn’t seen its fair share of innovation however it has remained true to its roots as a no-nonsense, offload, sports utility. And that’s just the way we like it.
Many of you know that the Jeep Wrangler was born from a wartime necessity. The US military’s need to upgrade from horses and motorcycles for reconnaissance. Surprisingly, Jeep was not the original automotive manufacturer to supply the military. The Bantam Car Company originally won the bid to produce an SUV, this was short lived due to their inability to quickly supply the needed vehicles in close to the start of World War II.
It was then that the Willys-Overland Company took over the project and succeeded in delivering 650,000 Jeeps to the allied forces. These utility vehicles were as if not more diversely used then as they are today, every branch of the armed forces had the use for them; weapons platforms, troop transport, command cars, reconnaissance, and ambulances.
The very same foundation that we love today gained the Wrangler high praise to the troop. The ability to traverse difficult terrain while at the same time having enough speed to escape or get to where you need to be in a hurry.
We can go on and on about the vital role the Jeep Wrangler played in WWII and the conflicts to follow, however, one of its most impressive feats has been to hold its ground in this ever changing world. We have seen many vehicles emerge and fade way in the 70 years the Wrangler has been around. In that time Jeep has made some very specific upgrades to the Wrangler.
Today your Wrangler can be as rough and rugged as you need and yet provide you with all the comforts of the top models on the market today. Features like Keyless entry, Navigation, heated seats, are just a few additions to the Wrangler. There are multiple trims to fit your taste and needs, we recommend you discover first hand what the Jeep Wrangler can offer you.
